Time : 7.30 am to 11.00 am

Location : HMT Estate, Kalamassery, Ernakulam

Birdwatchers : Vishnupriyan Kartha, Ginu Gerorge, Dr. Sabarish, Dr. Jogi Joshua and Dr. S. Prasanth

Weather : Cloudy sky with occasional sun shine

Birds

1. Little Grebe (2) - seen in a water tank only formed during rainy season.
2. Little Cormorant (1)
3. Little Egret (2) - seen in a paddy field along with Median and Cattle Egrets.

4. Purple Heron (3)

5. Median Egret (2)

6. Cattle Egret (6) - only one bird was with breeding plumage.

7. Indian Pond Heron (10+)

8. Lesser Whistling Duck (10+) - some birds were seen flying through the paddy field with their whistling sound. Four birds were seen in the water tank.

9. White breasted Waterhen (2)
10. Purple Moorhen (10+)
11. Bronze winged Jacana (1)

12. Red wattled Lapwing (10+)

13. Wood Sandpiper (6)
14. Spotted Dove (2) - heard their call in the forested area.

15. Indian Cuckoo (1)
16. Stork billed Kingfisher (1) - heard the kyo..kyo.. call first and then saw the bird.

17. White breasted Kingfisher (3)

18. Small Bee-eater (10+)

19. White cheeked Barbet (3)

20. Lesser Golden backed Woodpecker (2)
21. Jerdon's Bush lark (2) - one bird was sitting in a electric wire making the bell ringing sound.

22. Red rumped Swallow (20+) - some birds were juveniles. Two juvenile birds were sitting in a twig. Adult birds were feeding the juveniles in the mid air.

24. Red whiskered Bulbul (6) - two birds were building nests because some twigs were seen in their beaks.

31. Purple rumped Sunbird (5) - one bird was with a red patch near its beak may be a wound.
